Make Waves at Summer XP!

2022-5-10 | Pastor Kristin Mueller

We’re looking forward to a week at Miller Elementary School, where for 5 evenings in June, we fill the hallways with music, games, Bible stories, activities, and fun! It’s time for our annual week of Summer XP!

This year we’ll “Make Waves” as we spend time in God’s word together. In the beginning, God literally made the waves! He created everything, and he created people in God’s image. We’ll learn how we were created to follow Jesus, and we’ll also learn how following Jesus can have a ripple effect on the world around us. We can make waves, and make a difference, in our community each and every day! Our memory verse for the week will encourage us, as we learn that “Whoever believes in me…rivers of living water will flow from within them.” John 7:38, NIV

We meet in the evenings from June 6-10, with dinner served for families at 6 pm and classes happening for children from 6:30-8:00. All our kids begin in the gym together for an opening time of worship, and then we rotate through different stations. Children will hear a Bible story, play a game, and complete a craft or activity as they go through the evening.

Speaking of children – do you know someone who would enjoy a week of dinner and Bible stories? It’s time to get them registered! As you may have noticed, life hasn’t been “normal” for quite some time, so we need help getting the word out about Summer XP. Many of the kids who would have attended in the past have now aged out, and many of our younger kids may not know about Summer XP. We’ll have a fun display set up at ECC in the weeks ahead, and we encourage you to take an invitation to share with a child that you know.

We invite kids who will be entering Kindergarten through entering 5th grade in the fall of 2022 to participate in Summer XP. If you are serving in some capacity, we do have childcare and a preschool class available for your children while you help. If you have a middle school student, we do invite middle school students to serve, and we ask that they work alongside a caring adult who knows and loves them. If you’ve got a high school student, your high schooler can fully participate as a helper or leader!

Leaders are always an integral part of our Summer XP week, and this year is no different! You can serve one evening, or you can serve all five. We have openings for people to help with every part of the week, from registration, to meal serving, to guiding groups, to bandaging up scraped knees. We need all the gifts given to Christ’s body to help make this week a great experience for our kids.

We’re looking to host Summer XP in a way that our kids hear stories of God’s great love for them, are invited into a relationship with Jesus Christ, and have tons of fun as they follow God and grow closer in relationship with God and with each other! Please pray with us that God uses this week to make waves in our lives, in our families, and in our community.

To register as a child or as a helper, you can sign up online at ecclife.net/xp. There are opportunities for you to help before Summer XP, one or two evenings during the week, or all week long. We’d love to see you there!
